Position: Performance Media Data & Analytics Specialist
Location: Phoenix, Arizona (On-site 16th Street & Northern)
Status: Exempt
Compensation: BS in Marketing, Advertising or related field, or 4+ years experience in agency digital media tracking and reporting required.

PRIMARY ROLE:

As a key player on the Performance Media team, the Data & Analytics Specialist is someone that knows their way around GA4, GTM containers and raw data management with SQL, R, Power BI, or other data tools. This role is for someone that can plan the proper strategy to succeed in successful implementation and then tracking & understanding of the data from digital media campaigns. The Data & Analytics Specialist must have a deep understanding of the digital marketing landscape and the various platforms commonly used within agencies providing marketing services.

You will work with other Defero teams to work through discovery and definition of client goals and objectives so that you can understand and then apply appropriate tracking and reporting. You will also kick off execution teams with appropriate pixel, javascript, or other tracking implementation needs as necessary to report on the success of campaigns.

In this position, you should have a clear understanding of the media landscape as a whole as well as the roles all paid and organic media channels play in driving success for clients. You will need to be comfortable communicating, both internally and with clients as you assist in reporting of specific outcomes.

Our paid digital media campaigns range from paid search, paid social, programmatic, to video placements and range from small to large advertising budgets. We also manage organic search and SEO strategies for our clients, as applicable. You’ll be charged with being able to move quickly and dynamically to adjust tracking needs to assess the lift from all channels and Defero’s full surround approach. Nothing we do is in a set it and forget it model, our strategy teams understand this and thrive on the agency process.

You’re a digital media rockstar and can wear multiple hats, you understand agency life! You can act as a data analyst, pull in and normalize first party data, address GTM implementations and report/review data directly out of GA4. You can review tracking and analytics from reporting tools like Defero’s use of TapClicks or others to review activity against client KPIs confirm performance against the team’s strategies. You’re a holistic digital marketing thinker and understand the importance and roles of the following: email marketing, conversion rate optimization, creative, web development, etc.  And importantly, you’re a solid communicator with internal staff setting clear expectations and with clients explaining the ‘why.’

ROLE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Work in the office, side by side, with various teams to help the agency plan, implement and report on analytics and campaign results.
  • Performance marketing analytics, data and tracking specialist. Maintains a high level of expertise across all paid media platforms, including but not limited to paid social, paid search and programmatically placed media.
  • Paid media planning and implementation of campaign tracking and reporting within platforms (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, etc) as well as use of Defero’s primary reporting tool called TapClicks.
  • GA4 & GTM specialist. Seen as the go to person for use of both Google Analytics and Google Tag Manger for tracking implementation and reporting. This includes the ability to interact with the data layer and other global JavaScript objects as it pertains to tracking.
  • Client-facing responsibilities: communications, deliverables. Has the ability to own the room related to analysis of campaigns and reporting against media campaigns.
  • Partner discovery and vetting. Work through opportunities from outside partners to provide tools, data, targeting, or other services that apply to the tracking and analysis of campaigns.
  • Practices critical thinking and reasoning skills. Examines the details while not losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Digests, retains and shares the latest industry news and applies it to client projects as applicable.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or 4+ years of media tracking and analysis experience across digital mediums.
  • Past agency experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of paid digital media.
  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple clients, projects and tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess a natural curiosity about digital media – early adopters wanted.
  • Both an overarching strategic and tactical implementer, both are key to this role.
